Getting Started

  1. How do I find things on the site?

The site uses a menu to organize the content, but there are usually more than one way to get to any particular place on the site.

Each classmate, teacher, or school staff member has a profile on the site. Most visitors are interested in finding their own profile or the profiles of friends and teachers. With that in mind, there are three major ways to navigate the site.

    1. Class List

Under the Reunion Menu, there is the Class List page. This page lists all the classmates and teachers and the person's name links directly to that person's profile.

In addition, the Class List page shows who are members of the site (star), who has passed away (tombstone), and who has an active e-mail address (envelope). You can click on the envelope to send a private message to that person.

    2. Person List

Under the Classmates Menu, there is the Person List page. This page also lists the classmates and teachers and the person's name links directly to that person's profile.

In addition, the Person List page shows a partial birth date, the date of death for deceased persons, statistics about what kind of things have been attached to the profile, and the status of the profile. Placing your mouse pointer on the Stats column label or the Status column label shows the legend for the letters that appear in the column.

So, for example, if you wanted to find profiles where disk files (images) have been attached, you'd look for profiles with an 'F' in the Stats column.

    3. Large Graduation Photograph

When you click on the graduation photograph on the home page, a larger image is loaded in a new window. When you place your mouse pointer over a person's face, you'll see their name. You'll also notice that the pointer will change to a hand, indicating that you can click on that area. When you click, that person's profile loads in the original window leaving the window with the large photograph open. So you can switch back and forth between the two windows to locate the profiles of different graduates.

Additionally, under every menu there is a Search page. At the top of this page is a list of recent additions and changes to the site. So, if you're interested in seeing what's new, it's all just a click away.

The Search page also has a Reunion Search form that provides a variety of ways that you can quickly locate people and stories on the site.

  2. What should I do first?

In order to add your own content to the site, you need to become a member. At a minimum, you'll need an e-mail address, a user name, and a password. Different members cannot share the same e-mail address.

The hardest part of this is that once you've submitted your application, you'll have to wait to be approved. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to a full day. You'll know you are approved when you receive an e-mail message to that effect. You should keep that e-mail message because it contains instructions on how to sign in to the site.

While you're waiting for approval, you may want to find a 'Then' photograph and find or a create a 'Now' photograph. You can also start thinking about what you want to say in your biography.

  3. My membership has been approved. What now?

We're going to outline the suggested steps that we think you should go through. You don't have to do these in order.

    1. Sign in. Follow the instructions in the approval message. If you don't sign in, you won't see have the ability to add content to the site.
    2. Go to your profile page. There are several ways to get there.
      • If there is a class picture, click on it. A larger picture will load in its own window. As you move your mouse pointer over the faces, the pointer will change to a hand. This means that you can click on that area. So find your face and click on it. Your profile will load in the original window, leaving the large class picture available for further navigation.
      • If there is no class picture, or if you are not in the picture, click on 'Reunion Menu', then 'Class:List'. This is a list of all your classmates arranged in alphabetical order by their names when they attended the school. Find you name and click on it.
      • Another path to your profile is to click on 'Classmates Menu', then 'Person:List'. This is another list of all your classmates arranged in alphabetical order by their names when they attended the school. Find you name and click on it. NOTE: This list shows different information than the Class:List. Move your mouse pointer over the Stats column heading to see what the letters in that column mean.
    3. Call us vain, but the first thing that everyone wants to know is what you look like now. For better or worse, that's our nature. So, putting up a current photograph for your 'Now' picture is the single, most important thing that you can add. For the how-to on this, please see the FAQ on 'Then and Now.'
    4. The next most interesting part of your profile is your biography. You don't have to be a John Steinbeck or Ernest Hemingway to write something interesting. An easy method for constructing your biography, is to tell us what you've been doing since graduation. Tell us the schools you attended, the places the you lived, your career, marriages, births, deaths, etc. Are there some accomplishments that you are especially proud of? Add those too. Remember you can always come back later and add things that you forgot.
    5. Enter the years that you attended the school -- the first year and the last year.
    6. You don't have to stop here either. You can attach as many images as you'd like to your profile. You can also attach other kinds of things to your profile like places, marriages, documents, events, and stories. For example, if you had an interesting adventure, you might want to embellish on that story in a separate story entry.
  4. How do I set up a 'Then' and 'Now' picture?

The 'Then' and 'Now' images are just special instances of an image attached to your profile. In fact, once you've attached an image to your profile, you can assign it as a 'Then' or 'Now' picture at any time.

    1. You need to be signed in to the site.
    2. Go to your profile.
    3. If the image has not yet been attached to your profile, under the Disk Files section, click on 'Attach'.
    4. Use the 'Browse' button to select the image you want to upload.
    5. Chose 'ImageThen' or 'ImageNow' from the File Type select list.
    6. Enter any other information you want to add, like a caption, and then click the 'Save' button.
    7. If the image has already been attached to your profile, under the Disk Files section, click on the image name.
    8. Change the File Type from 'Image' to 'ImageThen' or 'ImageNow' in the select list.
    9. Enter any other information you want to add, like a caption, and then click the 'Save' button.
